Two lamps, two jobs

A spare-room desk in the UK often inherits a ceiling bulb and a leftover living-room lamp. Those are not a lighting spec. Task light wants a defined pool on the keyboard and page. Bias light wants a softer wash behind a display so the room does not become a cave at 21:00.

This is a teaser, not a finished Spec Story Deck. We are not publishing invented lux readings. If your question is “clamp lamp, monitor bar, or both?”, Ask KitCompass with that shape.

Spec callout

Colour temperature as a mood spec

Many desk lamps in this class offer a 3000–5000 K slider. Warmer pools can feel kinder at night; cooler pools can feel clearer on paper. Neither setting is a medical claim.

Typical advertised ranges. Not a KitCompass photometer reading.
